 Solnt NHS Trust: Council of Governors

Solent NHS Trust is looking for potential Governors who want to get involved in the organisation, as it looks to become a Foundation Trust in 2013.

The Council of Governors are people elected by their members to represent their views and interests. The Governors, will be elected for three years, and will help set the strategic
direction of the Trust and will work with the Board of Directors to ensure that the Trust is a success and behaves in a way that is consistent with its constitution and objectives.

To do this it is responsible for appointing the Chairman and Non Executive Directors on the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors has responsibility for the day to day management of the Trust. The Council of Governors has a major role in advising on the future of the Trust’s services, making sure that they meet the needs of local people.

The Council of Governors will comprise of 25 Governors (see diagram below)

How do I become a Governor?
